FUNDING: Lancashire Environment Fund

The Lancashire Environmental Fund (LEF) is a partnership between SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK Ltd (formerly SITA UK Ltd), Lancashire County Council, The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside and Community Futures.

The Fund has distributed over £25 million of Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) grants support to community and environmental projects which benefit the environment and people of Lancashire since its start in 1998.

The funding is intended for a wide variety of projects to improve the environment and bring community benefits throughout the county of Lancashire.

There are three levels of funding:

  • Small Grants – between £3,000 and £20,000 (up to 75% of costs). Overall project costs should not exceed £30,000.
  • Main Grants – up to £40,000 (up to 80% of costs). Overall project costs should not exceed £400,000.
  • Green Grants – up to £1,000

Match Funding Restrictions

Applicants must provide 25% of the total cost of the project for Small Grants and 20% of the total cost of the project for Main Grants. At least 10% should be secured before submitting an application.
