HUB SPOTLIGHT: Alpacaly Ever After

Nestled at the outskirts of Penrith and just a stone’s throw from the alpaca fields, the Alpacaly Ever After Community Garden is a warm, welcoming space where people and plants are thriving side by side. 🦙🥬

This green community hub is all about growing good things – food, friendships, confidence and a connection with the outdoors. It’s open to everyone, whether you’re a seasoned grower or have never planted a seed in your life.

When we visited, the garden was bursting with life. Beautiful deep purple beetroots were peeking out from the soil, chive flowers buzzed with bees, and the radishes (so many radishes!) were being pulled up by happy hands. There’s a real sense of joy here, and a relaxed pace that makes it easy to get stuck in or simply potter around.

Volunteers meet regularly to care for the beds, plant new crops, and enjoy a cuppa and a chat in the polytunnel. It’s a space that puts community and wellbeing front and centre, with lots of thought given to accessibility and inclusion. Everyone’s welcome, and there’s no pressure to know what you’re doing – you can learn as you grow.

The site is home to a beautiful cafe and farm shop and next door, there’s a gorgeous woodland area complete with a natural play zone and a brilliant mud kitchen – perfect for kids to explore and get messy.

Thanks so much to Hannah and the team at Basecamp North Lakes for showing us round! Watch Hannah sharing a little about the project in the above video for more info and check out their Facebook page for updates.
